Pick the Smooth PEI Build Plate if you want a flat, smooth bottom face and don't mind glue. Pick the Epoxy Resin Build Plate if you want a coated surface with two usable sides. Both are official Creality replacement plates sold for the K1 Max and the Ender-3 V3 Plus, and in our compatibility records both fit both printers. The smooth PEI plate is a PEI sheet on spring steel, which Creality sells "for Flat Model Surface," and Creality's product photos show the plate itself marked "Please apply glue before print." The epoxy plate has an "Epoxy Resin Particle Coating" that Creality's image text says is on both sides, sold for "Excellent Adhesion" and "Easy Demolding." Creality says both attach magnetically. Neither page gives bed temperatures, a material list, or cleaning advice.
Who this comparison is for
This page is for Creality K1 Max and Ender-3 V3 Plus owners choosing between two of Creality's own replacement plates in the larger size: the K1 Max/Ender-3 V3 Plus Smooth PEI Build Plate and the K1 Max/Ender-3 V3 Plus Epoxy Resin Build Plate 310×315mm. Creality also sells a textured PEI plate in this size, which this page doesn't cover. Creality's Ender-3 V3 Plus page describes the printer's stock plate as a "Flexible Textured Plate," and its K1 Max page lists a "Flexible Build Plate" without naming the surface. If you're still choosing a surface type, see our textured vs smooth build surfaces guide, and for more plates, the build plate shortlist.

How we compared them
This is a research-based comparison. Every detail below comes from Creality's store pages for the two plates and its K1 Max and Ender-3 V3 Plus product pages, listed in the sources, and printer fit comes from our compatibility records, which are built from those store pages. We haven't printed on either plate, so nothing here is a measured result of ours. Where Creality describes its own product, such as "Excellent Adhesion" or "Easy to Remove Printed Models," we label it as the maker's claim.
Both store pages are short. The smooth PEI page has a feature list and a short description. The epoxy page has three feature lines, and most of its detail is text inside its product images, which Creality serves at 1,000 pixels square. That text is legible at that size, and where a detail comes only from an image, we say so. Neither page publishes an adhesion test, wear data, or a temperature limit, so there's no test table on this page.

Surfaces: smooth PEI or epoxy coating
The two plates take different approaches, and the surface is the real choice here.
- Smooth PEI. Creality's store page lists "Smooth PEI Surface for Flat Model Surface" and "PEI Is Wear-resistant and High-temperature Resistant with Stable Performance." Text in one of its product images adds that "PEI material has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, excellent flame retardancy, high strength and high rigidity, suitable for long-term use under high temperature conditions." That describes PEI as a material, not a tested limit for this plate. Creality doesn't say whether the plate has one PEI side or two.
- Epoxy resin. The store page lists "Excellent Adhesion," "High Flatness," and "High Strength and Wear Resistance." The image text calls the surface a "Double-sided High Quality Epoxy Resin Particle Coating" and adds "Ultra-high Adhesion, More Stable Molding" and "High Flatness, Easy Demolding." Creality doesn't say what the base plate under the coating is made of.
Creality sells the smooth PEI plate for a flat bottom face, and doesn't describe the epoxy coating's finish beyond "Particle Coating." Our textured vs smooth build surfaces guide covers how each kind of finish affects adhesion and the look of the bottom face.
Glue and bed temperatures
Creality publishes almost nothing here for either plate, so plan on your filament maker's settings.
- Smooth PEI. Creality's store text doesn't mention glue. Its product photos, though, show the plate itself printed with "A Plate" and "Please apply glue before print" along its top edge, legible at the size Creality serves those images. Read that as Creality's marking on the plate, and keep a glue stick to hand. Our bed adhesives guide covers the options and when glue doubles as a release layer.
- Epoxy resin. Creality's page and image text say nothing about glue.
Neither page gives a bed temperature, a list of materials, or a maximum temperature for the plate. Creality's Ender-3 V3 Plus page lists a heatbed temperature of "≤100°C," which is the printer's limit, not a rating for either plate. Use your filament maker's recommended bed temperature, and if a print lifts, our first layer adhesion guide covers what to check.
Size and printer fit
Both store pages give the same two figures for size. The smooth PEI page says "Size: 315*310mm," and the epoxy page's title and image text say "310×315mm." Creality doesn't say which figure is the width on either page.
Fit comes only from our compatibility records, which are built from these two Creality pages.
- Smooth PEI. In our records, it fits the K1 Max and the Ender-3 V3 Plus. The product title names both printers. The line under the title reads "Compatible Models: K1 Max" alone, while the description further down reads "Compatible Models: K1 Max/Ender-3 V3 Plus."
- Epoxy resin. In our records, it fits the K1 Max and the Ender-3 V3 Plus. The page reads "Compatible models: K1 Max/Ender-3 V3 Plus," and the parameter table in its image text lists "K1 Max_Ender-3 V3 Plus."
Creality names no other printers for either plate on these pages, and we make no fit claim for any other model. Creality's smaller 235 mm plates are different products; see the build plate shortlist for those.
Magnetic base and installation
Both plates attach magnetically, in Creality's words: "Strong Magnetic Force Not Easy to Dislocate" for the smooth PEI plate and "Strong Magnetic Attraction, Not Easy to Dislocate" in the epoxy plate's image text. Neither Creality page says a magnetic base or sticker is in the box. The Creality-brand Amazon listings we link say each plate is spring steel only, with no magnetic base. That's our listing data, not something either Creality page states, so check that your printer's magnetic base is in good shape before you buy either plate.
The epoxy plate's image text adds "Quick Installation,Precise Positioning," and the smooth PEI page lists "Thoughtful Design Finer Details." Creality gives no written installation steps for either plate.
Removal, cleaning, and wear
- Smooth PEI. Creality lists "Easy to Remove Printed Models."
- Epoxy resin. The image text reads "High Flatness, Easy Demolding."
Creality gives no cleaning or wear guidance for either surface on these pages. Let the plate cool before you flex it, and see our print stuck to the bed guide and PEI sheet damage guide for safe removal and care.
What Creality says each plate is for
- Smooth PEI. Creality sells it for a "Flat Model Surface," and calls PEI "Wear-resistant and High-temperature Resistant with Stable Performance."
- Epoxy resin. Creality's headline features are "Excellent Adhesion," "High Flatness," and "High Strength and Wear Resistance," with "Ultra-high Adhesion" in its image text.
These are the maker's claims, with no test figures published for either plate.

- You own a K1 Max or Ender-3 V3 Plus and want a coated surface Creality sells for adhesion and easy release.
- You want two printing sides, which Creality's image text describes.
- You don't need the maker's bed temperatures or material list, since Creality publishes neither for this plate.
Safety and limits
How this page was checked
Every specification, feature, and printer detail above comes from the Creality pages in the sources section, retrieved on 2026-10-13, and from our compatibility records built from Creality's two store pages. We haven't printed on either plate for this page, so nothing here is a measured result of ours. The epoxy plate's double-sided coating, magnetic attachment, installation note, and parameter table are text inside its product images, and the smooth PEI plate's glue marking is text printed on the plate in its product photos. Both are legible at the 1,000-pixel size Creality serves those images, and we label them as image text. We found no bed temperatures, material list, or cleaning guidance for either plate on Creality's pages. Read more in our editorial standards and affiliate disclosure.
