The short answer

For one standard 1 kg spool, start with the SUNLU FilaDryer S2: SUNLU says filament can keep drying while it feeds the printer. The EIBOS Easdry is a low-profile alternative if your spools fit its Φ220 × 72 mm limit, and the eSUN eBOX Lite suits keeping an already-dry spool warm while it prints. For several spools, the SUNLU FilaDryer S4 takes four 1 kg spools, and the EIBOS Cyclopes and Sovol SH02 take two. For nylon, PC, and other engineering materials that need more than 70 °C, the SUNLU FilaDryer E2 (up to 110 °C) and Creality SpacePi X4 (up to 85 °C) are the documented options, provided your spools can take the heat. If you want to dry a spool and then keep it sealed in the same box, look at the Polymaker PolyDryer or SUNLU FilaDryer SP2. The fit rule: match the spool count, the spool size, and the hottest drying temperature your filaments call for.

Who this guide is for

This page is for readers who have already decided they need active drying, not just storage. Maybe a spool has started popping or stringing, or you print materials that makers describe as strongly moisture-sensitive. If you are not sure yet whether you need a dryer or only a sealed box, start with our filament dryer vs dry box guide. If your spools print well and you only want to keep them that way, our filament storage guide is the better starting point.

We have grouped the ten dryers by need:

  • Single-spool: SUNLU FilaDryer S2, EIBOS Easdry, eSUN eBOX Lite.
  • Multi-spool: SUNLU FilaDryer S4, EIBOS Cyclopes, Sovol SH02.
  • High-temperature, for engineering materials: SUNLU FilaDryer E2, Creality SpacePi X4.
  • Dryer plus storage: Polymaker PolyDryer (Dry Dock + Box), SUNLU FilaDryer SP2.

How we chose these ten

A dryer made the list only if it met these criteria:

  • Manufacturer documentation for the key specs. Each maker publishes a capacity and, for most, a temperature range on its own product page, wiki, or manual. Where a maker's pages disagree with each other (heater wattage for several SUNLU units, maximum temperature for the EIBOS Cyclopes), we say so instead of picking the convenient number.
  • An exact variant we could verify. Each catalog record ties one Amazon listing to one manufacturer product and plug type. For example, Polymaker's SKU PX01002_A (Dry Dock + Storage Box, US plug) matches the model number on the listing.
  • Retail-only figures left out. Where an Amazon listing gives a spec that the maker's own page does not, such as a temperature range or spool size, we did not record it as a specification.

A 110 °C engineering dryer and a one-spool PLA dryer solve different problems.

Single-spool: SUNLU FilaDryer S2

The S2 is the straightforward choice for one standard 1 kg spool. SUNLU lists a 35–70 °C setting range, heating plates above and below the spool with a bottom fan, and a maximum working power of 48 W. SUNLU also says filament can keep drying while it feeds the printer. The main caveat is size: SUNLU's wiki gives a maximum spool of Φ210 × 85 mm, so wide and 2–3 kg spools will not fit. SUNLU's pages don't state a timer range.

SUNLU

SUNLU FilaDryer S2 (Black, single-spool dryer)

Best for
Drying and feeding one standard 1 kg spool of PLA, PETG, or TPU at a time.
Skip this if
You need to dry several spools at once or need temperatures above 70 °C.
Specs, strengths, and limitations
Capacity
One spool up to 210 mm diameter × 85 mm wide (SUNLU wiki: max capacity φ210×85(H) mm; SUNLU comparison: one standard 1 kg spool)
Outer size
265 × 274 × 118 mm
Part rated to
70 °C (your printer's own hotend limit may be lower)
Maker notes
Temperature setting range 35–70 °C (SUNLU wiki). Max working power 48 W (SUNLU product page and wiki). SUNLU describes dual upper and lower heating plates with a bottom fan ('360° Enclosed Heating') and a real-time humidity readout. Filament diameters 1.75 / 2.85 / 3.00 mm (SUNLU store page); SUNLU wiki lists 1.75 / 2.85 / 3.01 mm. SUNLU dimensions are 265(L) × 274(W) × 118(H) mm; recorded here as width = L, depth = W. SUNLU pages give different screen sizes (4.6-inch on sunlu.com, other figures on the store page), so screen size is not recorded. Timer range is not stated on SUNLU's product pages.
Strengths
  • Manufacturer states a 35–70 °C setting range with heating plates above and below the spool and a bottom fan.
  • Manufacturer states filament can keep drying while it feeds to the printer.
  • Manufacturer lists a low 48 W maximum working power.
Limitations
  • Holds a single spool, and SUNLU lists a maximum spool size of 210 mm diameter × 85 mm width, so wide or 2–3 kg spools will not fit.
  • 70 °C maximum is below the drying temperature some engineering filaments call for; check the filament maker's drying guidance.

Skip it if you dry several spools at a time or need more than 70 °C.

Single-spool: EIBOS Easdry

The Easdry is a low-profile single-spool unit. EIBOS lists a 40–65 °C range from a 45 W PTC heater with a fan (its tech specs table gives 55 W maximum power), a humidity readout covering 10–99% RH, and a body of 225 × 225 × 103 mm. Its spool limits are the tightest here: EIBOS says the spool must be smaller than Φ220 × 72 mm with a centre hole larger than Φ50 mm. Measure your spools before buying. EIBOS's spec table doesn't state a timer.

EIBOS

EIBOS Easdry Filament Dryer (US 120 V, single spool)

Best for
Keeping a single 1 kg spool of PLA, PETG, or TPU dry while printing.
Skip this if
Your spools are wider than 72 mm or you need temperatures above 65 °C.
Specs, strengths, and limitations
Capacity
One spool smaller than Φ220 × 72 mm with a centre hole larger than Φ50 mm (EIBOS)
Part rated to
65 °C (your printer's own hotend limit may be lower)
Maker notes
EIBOS data sheet: temperature 40–65 ℃, rated power 45 W (PTC heater with built-in fan), humidity range RH 10–99%. The tech specs table lists 'Maximum power 55W' and 40~65 °C 'Based on 25°C environment temperature'. EIBOS lists product size 225 × 225 × 103 mm, net weight 1 kg. Filament diameter: both EIBOS spec tables list 1.75 mm only; the product description lists 1.75 / 2.85 / 3.00 mm. No timer is listed; the manual describes a power switch and a temperature knob only, with drying times 'for reference only'. The manual lists 'Package containing: Filament dryer x1, Power cord x1'; the product-page package photo also shows a Teflon tube and a manual. Package size is 265 × 265 × 135 mm in the data sheet but 270 × 270 × 140 mm in the tech specs table and manual.
Strengths
  • Manufacturer lists an adjustable 40–65 °C range from a 45 W PTC heater with a fan.
  • Manufacturer lists a humidity readout covering RH 10–99%.
  • Manufacturer lists a low-profile 225 × 225 × 103 mm body.
Limitations
  • 65 °C maximum is low for nylon and other engineering filaments.
  • Spools must be smaller than Φ220 × 72 mm with a hub larger than Φ50 mm (EIBOS), which rules out many wider spools.
  • EIBOS's own power figures differ (45 W rated in the data sheet, 55 W maximum in the tech specs table).

Skip it if your spools are wider than 72 mm, or you need more than 65 °C.

Single-spool: eSUN eBOX Lite

The eBOX Lite is better thought of as a heated feeder than a recovery dryer. eSUN describes it as holding a 0.5 kg or 1 kg spool at constant temperature and humidity while printing, under a transparent PC cover. eSUN itself says it "is not suitable for drying filaments with serious water absorption and high temperature (such as nylon, PEEK and other filaments that need high temperature drying)." eSUN's product page states neither a maximum temperature nor a maximum spool size, so check your spools against the unit before relying on it.

Best for
Keeping an already-dry 1 kg spool of PLA or PETG warm and dry while it prints.
Skip this if
You need to recover wet nylon or other filaments that require high-temperature drying.
Specs, strengths, and limitations
Capacity
0.5 kg and 1 kg spools (eSUN). Maximum spool dimensions are not stated on eSUN's product page.
Maker notes
eSUN lists size 238×104×215 mm (axes not labelled) and weight 1115 g. Filament diameters 1.75 / 2.85 / 3.0 mm (eSUN). Transparent PC upper cover, arc-shaped heating sheet with a heat-conduction metal plate, and a low-noise turbo fan (eSUN). The Amazon listing gives a 40–55 °C inside temperature range and a 200 × 73 mm maximum spool; eSUN's product page does not state these, so they are not recorded as specifications.
Strengths
  • Manufacturer states it holds 0.5 kg and 1 kg spools at constant temperature and humidity while printing.
  • Manufacturer states the transparent PC cover lets you watch the spool.
  • Manufacturer lists a compact 1115 g unit.
Limitations
  • eSUN states it 'is not suitable for drying filaments with serious water absorption and high temperature (such as nylon, PEEK and other filaments that need high temperature drying).'
  • eSUN's product page does not state a maximum temperature or maximum spool dimensions.

Skip it if you need to recover a properly wet spool, or you print nylon.

Multi-spool: SUNLU FilaDryer S4

The S4 dries four 1 kg spools in a 450 × 210 × 211 mm chamber, according to SUNLU, and SUNLU says it can feed up to four printers. SUNLU describes side circulation fans plus a bottom heating fan that keep the chamber within ±3 °C, a humidity mode that starts and stops drying around set humidity levels, and triple protection (PTC thermistor, temperature switch, and software monitoring). The caveats: it tops out at 70 °C, it needs bench space (SUNLU lists 458 × 218 × 312 mm), SUNLU doesn't state a maximum spool diameter or width, and SUNLU's own pages give 300, 330, or 350 W for the heater.

SUNLU

SUNLU FilaDryer S4 (Black, 4-spool dryer)

Best for
Multi-printer or multi-material setups that need four 1 kg spools dried and fed at once.
Skip this if
You only dry one spool at a time or have limited bench space.
Specs, strengths, and limitations
Capacity
Four 1 kg spools; internal size 450 × 210 × 211 mm (SUNLU). Maximum spool diameter and width are not stated.
Outer size
458 × 218 × 312 mm
Part rated to
70 °C (your printer's own hotend limit may be lower)
Maker notes
SUNLU lists product size 458 × 218 × 312 mm (L×W×H); the store page says this includes the height of the tripod. SUNLU states heater power inconsistently: '350W PTC heater' with rated power 300 W (sunlu.com product page and wiki); 'Built-in 300W PTC heater' in the store bullets but 'a heating power of 330W' in the store description, with rated power 320 W (store page); its blog gives '320–350 W'. Dual side circulation fans plus a bottom heating fan; SUNLU states chamber temperature is balanced within ±3 °C. Humidity mode: drying starts when humidity reaches the set value (30–50%) and stops at 25% (SUNLU). Triple protection: PTC thermistor, temperature switch and software monitoring (SUNLU). Filament diameters 1.75 / 2.85 / 3.0 mm; SUNLU states it can feed up to 4 printers; the store page lists 2 × 100 cm and 4 × 8 cm PTFE tubes; the user guide packing list shows 2 × 100 cm Teflon tubes, a power cord and 8 rollers. The Amazon listing gives 460 × 220 × 310 mm, a 350 W heater and a 35–70 °C range; SUNLU's own figures are used here. SUNLU's user guide gives a drying timer of up to 99 h, a touch screen with filament-type presets, and two modes: MO1 time control (shuts down after countdown) and MO2 humidity control (after the countdown, reheats when humidity rises to 50% or a user-set 30–50% and stops at 25%).
Strengths
  • Manufacturer states it can dry four 1 kg spools at once in a 450 × 210 × 211 mm chamber.
  • Manufacturer states side and bottom fans keep chamber temperature within ±3 °C.
  • Manufacturer lists triple safety protection (PTC thermistor, temperature switch, software monitoring with alerts).
Limitations
  • Large footprint: SUNLU lists 458 × 218 × 312 mm.
  • 70 °C maximum, and SUNLU does not state a maximum spool diameter or width, so check large spools before buying.
  • SUNLU's own pages disagree on heater power (300, 330 or 350 W) and rated power (300 or 320 W).

Skip it if you only ever dry one spool, or your bench is short on space.

Multi-spool: EIBOS Cyclopes

The Cyclopes holds two narrow spools or one wide one. EIBOS gives two reels up to Φ217 × 80 mm, or a single reel up to Φ217 × 174 mm, and says expansion parts take that to Φ250 × 170 mm. EIBOS lists a 100 W PTC heater, ±2 °C temperature precision, and a timer from 1 minute to 24 hours or unlimited. The catch is temperature. EIBOS's tech specs table says "≤80°C," but its user manual gives a "Temperature Control Range: ≤70℃" and a setting range of "0℃ to 70℃," and its data sheet and description also say 70, so plan around 70 °C.

Skip it if you need a clearly documented maximum above 70 °C, or want to dry two spools wider than 80 mm.

Multi-spool: Sovol SH02

The SH02 dries two spools and leans on presets. Sovol lists a 40–70 °C range, a 150 W PTC heater that reaches 70 °C in 25 minutes, a 3.9-inch touchscreen with one-key presets for common materials, and a maximum time setting of 98 hours. Sovol says the heater cuts out if the PTC exceeds 130 °C, and a product image says a safety alarm sounds if the fan doesn't work. Sovol's page text doesn't give a spool size or outer dimensions, but its product images say 200 × 70 mm for two rolls or 200 × 150 mm for one, and give the unit as 11.2 × 9.8 × 6.9 in. The presets include PC and PA, but the unit still stops at 70 °C, so compare that with your filament maker's drying temperature.

Sovol

Sovol SH02 Filament Dryer (US plug, 2-spool)

Best for
Drying two everyday spools at once with presets for common materials.
Skip this if

Skip it if your spools are wider than 70 mm for two-spool drying, or you need a temperature above 70 °C.

High-temperature: SUNLU FilaDryer E2

The E2 is the hottest dryer here. SUNLU's store page says it can reach 110 °C and lists nylon, PC, and carbon- or glass-filled grades among materials it can anneal. It also takes the largest spools, up to Φ250 × 153 mm (one 3 kg spool, per the store page), though SUNLU notes it tested fit with its own spools and other brands may differ slightly. SUNLU's wiki lists a smaller capacity, two 1 kg or one 2 kg spool. SUNLU states the outside stays under 60 °C when the inside is above 100 °C. The key caveat comes from SUNLU itself: high-temperature drying "needs to take into account the temperature resistance of the filament spool." Many plastic spools are not rated anywhere near 110 °C. SUNLU's figures for heater power also differ (500 W PTC on the store page, 325 W rated in the wiki).

SUNLU

SUNLU FilaDryer E2 (Black, drying and annealing box)

Best for
Drying engineering filaments such as nylon and PC, or annealing printed parts, above the 70 °C limit of typical dryers.
Skip this if
You only print PLA and PETG and don't need temperatures above 70 °C.
Specs, strengths, and limitations
Capacity
Two 1 kg, two 2 kg, or one 3 kg spool, max Φ250 × 153 mm (SUNLU store page, tested with SUNLU spools); SUNLU product page and wiki list two 1 kg or one 2 kg spool
Outer size
400 × 220 × 307 mm
Part rated to
110 °C (your printer's own hotend limit may be lower)
Maker notes
SUNLU store page: 'Temperature can reach up to 110℃ (high temperature drying needs to take into account the temperature resistance of the filament spool)'. Heater: the store page states '500W PTC ultra-high heating power'; the SUNLU wiki lists rated power 325 W. SUNLU states 20 minutes to 50 °C and 30 minutes to 70 °C from room temperature. Outer-surface figures differ across SUNLU's pages: the store page says the outside touch temperature is 'only <60℃' when the inside is >100 °C; the wiki says 'exterior surface ≤ 60°C at 110°C operation'; the store FAQ says the outer surface 'will be ≥55℃' when the set temperature is ≥80 °C. Filament diameters Φ1.75 / Φ2.85 mm (store description, product page, wiki); the store spec table also lists Φ3.0 mm. Includes Φ4×Φ3 mm PTFE tubing (2 × 8 cm, 2 × 1 m). SUNLU lists ABS, ABS-CF, ASA, PC, PC-ABS, PC-PBT, CoPA, PA6-GF, PA6-CF, PA12-CF, PA612-CF and PA12 among materials it can anneal. Spool fit was tested with SUNLU spools; SUNLU says other brands' spools may differ slightly. Product size 400 × 220 × 307 mm (L×W×H) per SUNLU wiki.
Strengths
  • Manufacturer states temperatures up to 110 °C for drying and annealing engineering filaments.
  • Store page states a maximum spool of Φ250 × 153 mm, including one 3 kg spool; SUNLU's wiki lists two 1 kg or one 2 kg.
  • Manufacturer states the outside stays below 60 °C when the inside is above 100 °C.
Limitations
  • SUNLU warns that high-temperature drying must account for the temperature resistance of the filament spool; check that third-party plastic spools are rated for the temperature you set.
  • SUNLU's own figures for heater power differ (500 W PTC vs 325 W rated).
  • Larger and heavier than single-spool dryers: SUNLU lists 400 × 220 × 307 mm.
  • SUNLU's store FAQ says the outer surface reaches 55 °C or more at settings of 80 °C and above; don't touch the enclosure while it runs.

High-temperature: Creality SpacePi X4

The SpacePi X4 splits four spools across two independent chambers, so you can dry two materials at different temperatures. Creality lists a 45–85 °C range, a 1–48 hour timer, a 200 W PTC heater per chamber, and a housing rated UL 94 V-0. Creality says spools up to 200 mm in diameter and 150 mm wide fit. Like SUNLU, Creality warns that "high-temperature drying should consider the heat resistance of the spools." Creality also notes the product doesn't include PTFE tube.

Creality

Creality SpacePi X4 Filament Dryer (4-spool, dual-chamber)

Best for
Drying up to four spools, including engineering filaments that need 80 °C or more, with two separate temperature zones.
Skip this if
You only need to dry one spool, or your spools exceed 200 mm in diameter.
Specs, strengths, and limitations
Capacity
Four spools (1 kg/2 kg spools); spool diameter ≤ 200 mm, width ≤ 150 mm (Creality)
Part rated to
85 °C (your printer's own hotend limit may be lower)
Maker notes
Creality product parameters: temperature range 45–85 ℃, drying time 1–48 h, rated power 360 W, product size 382*290*270 mm (axes not labelled), net weight 5 kg. Two independent chambers, each with a 200 W PTC heater (Creality). Housing material ABS/PA/PC, flame retardant grade UL 94 V-0 (Creality). Creality lists energy use of 0.124 kWh (single-chamber mode) and 0.208 kWh (dual-chamber mode) for 1 h at a target of 85 °C. Filament diameters 1.75 / 2.85 mm. Creality: '*The product does not contain PTFE tube.' Creality: '*High-temperature drying should consider the heat resistance of the spools.' The Amazon listing adds that other brands' plastic spools should be heat resistant. Creality's user manual V1.2 recommends 65 °C for PETG (the product page says 60 °C) and a 4–8 h drying time, and says spool heat resistance 'must exceed the set drying temperature'.
Strengths
  • Manufacturer states two independently controlled chambers that can dry different filaments at different temperatures.
  • Manufacturer lists a 45–85 °C range and a 1–48 h drying time.
  • Manufacturer states spools up to 200 mm diameter and 150 mm width fit.
Limitations
  • Creality warns that high-temperature drying must consider spool heat resistance, so third-party plastic spools may not tolerate 85 °C.
  • Spools wider than 150 mm or larger than 200 mm in diameter will not fit (Creality limit).

Dryer plus storage: Polymaker PolyDryer (Dry Dock + Box)

The PolyDryer kit is a heating Dry Dock plus one sealed storage box. You dry the spool on the dock, then lift the box off, refit the airlocks "tightly to ensure the best seal," and print with the filament fed through the box's outlet plug. Polymaker says one dock can serve any number of separately sold boxes. The box includes a hygrometer and colour-changing desiccant. Instead of a set temperature, it has three power levels, and Polymaker's FAQ says the highest range is about 68–73 °C. Polymaker's manual limits the standard box to spools up to 1 kg and Φ205 × 78 mm, so wider spools will not fit. The manual also caps Regular Mode at 24 hours and warns not to leave the dryer unattended in Continuous Mode.

Polymaker

Polymaker PolyDryer (Dryer Dock + Storage Box kit, US plug (PX01002_A))

Best for
Readers who want to dry a spool and keep it sealed in the same box, then add more boxes over time.
Skip this if
Your spools are wider than 78 mm or you need precise temperature control.
Specs, strengths, and limitations
Capacity
One spool up to 1 kg; maximum 205 mm diameter × 78 mm (filament with spool), per the PolyDryer user manual
Outer size
235 × 120 × 290 mm
Maker notes
Polymaker SKU PX01002_A = PolyDryer (Dryer Dock + Storage Box), US plug; matches the Amazon model number. Manual: product size 235(L) × 120(W) × 290(H) mm; storage box alone 235 × 120 × 235 mm. Manual: power adapter input AC 100–240 V, output DC 24 V, 68 W maximum working power. The wiki says the Dock uses a PTC heater and draws 68 W. Uses 3 preset power levels rather than a set temperature. Polymaker FAQ: temperature varies around the spool, and 'The highest range though is 68-73°C.' Box includes a hygrometer and colour-changing desiccant (orange when dry, dark green when wet); filament feeds out through airlocks without opening the box. Manual: working environment 20–35 °C; filament diameters 1.75 / 2.85 / 3.00 mm. Polymaker FAQ: the hygrometer's minimum readout is 10%. Manual: timer max 24 hours in Regular Mode; Continuous Mode runs until stopped, and the manual says: 'DO NOT leave the dryer unattended when switched to Continuous Mode.'
Strengths
  • Manufacturer states one Dry Dock can serve any number of separately sold PolyDryer Boxes, which stay sealed after drying.
  • Manual has you feed the filament through the box's outlet plug and refit the airlocks tightly after drying, so you can print without breaking the seal.
  • Manual lists a 68 W maximum working power.
Limitations
  • Polymaker's manual lists a maximum spool size of 205 mm diameter × 78 mm, so wider spools will not fit the standard box.
  • No exact temperature setting: three power levels, with Polymaker stating the highest range is about 68–73 °C.
  • Holds one spool up to 1 kg; 3 kg spools need the separate Box XL and an adapter.

Dryer plus storage: SUNLU FilaDryer SP2

The SP2 takes the same split idea to bigger spools. SUNLU describes a heating base with a detachable, stackable storage box (SUNLU recommends stacking at most three). The box has silicone seals and its own hygrometer, and SUNLU says a spool roller lets paper and damaged spools turn. SUNLU gives a maximum spool of Φ250 × 153 mm, covering two 1 kg, one 2 kg, or one 3 kg spool, and a 70 °C ceiling. SUNLU's pages give two heater figures: 200 W PTC in the store page description, and 250 W both as maximum working power in the store spec table and as rated power in the wiki.

SUNLU

SUNLU FilaDryer SP2 (Heating base + storage box set)

Best for
Readers who want one unit that dries a spool and then keeps it sealed, including 2–3 kg spools.
Skip this if
You need to dry more than two 1 kg spools at once or need temperatures above 70 °C.
Specs, strengths, and limitations
Capacity
Two 1 kg, one 2 kg, or one 3 kg spool (0.25–3 kg spools); maximum spool Φ250 mm diameter × 153 mm width (SUNLU store spec table and manual; the store description alone says '2 rolls of 2kg filaments for SUNLU')
Outer size
278 × 208 × 396 mm
Part rated to
70 °C (your printer's own hotend limit may be lower)
Maker notes
Two-part design: a heating base plus a detachable, stackable storage box (SUNLU recommends stacking at most 3 boxes). SUNLU's store page description says '200W PTC + fan heating'; the store spec table lists 'Maximum Working Power: 250w', and the SUNLU wiki lists rated power 250 W. SUNLU wiki: heats to 70 °C in 15 minutes; product size 278 × 208 × 396 mm (L×W×H); internal size 265 × 193 × 274 mm. Storage box has silicone seals on the top and bottom covers and an independent hygrometer; SUNLU states about 25% inside humidity at about 50% ambient. SUNLU states a spool roller lets paper spools and damaged spools be used. Compatible with 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm filament; 3 outlet holes on each side. Store spec table and manual: work temperature 35–70 °C, time setting range 0–99 h, humidity display 'Refer to the Hygrometer: 10%-90%' (separate hygrometer in the storage box, not on the base screen); maximum operating current 2.2 A @ 230 V / 4.2 A @ 120 V, which SUNLU does not reconcile with its 250 W maximum working power.
Strengths
  • Manufacturer states the storage box lifts off the heating base, so the same box is used for drying and sealed storage.
  • Manufacturer states a maximum spool of Φ250 × 153 mm, including 3 kg spools.
  • Manufacturer states a spool roller supports paper and damaged spools.
Limitations
  • 70 °C maximum.
  • SUNLU's own pages give different heater figures (200 W PTC in the store description vs 250 W maximum working power in the store spec table and 250 W rated in the wiki).

What should you check before buying a filament dryer?

  • Measure your spools. Check outer diameter and width against the table above. "Fits a 1 kg spool" is not the same as fitting every 1 kg spool, and widths vary a lot by brand. If a maker doesn't state a size, treat fit as unknown.
  • Check the spool's own temperature rating. The dryer's maximum is not the limit that matters if your spool softens first. SUNLU and Creality both warn about this for their high-temperature units.
  • Match the drying temperature to the filament. Use the setting from your exact spool's data sheet. If it calls for more than a dryer's documented maximum, that dryer can't reach it.
  • Filament diameter. Most units list 1.75, 2.85, and 3.00 mm. The Creality SpacePi X4 lists only 1.75 and 2.85 mm, the SUNLU E2's pages list 1.75 and 2.85 mm except its store spec table, which adds 3.0 mm, and the EIBOS Cyclopes and Easdry spec tables list only 1.75 mm, though their product descriptions list 1.75, 2.85, and 3.00 mm.
  • Feeding to the printer. If you plan to print straight from the dryer, check the outlet, the PTFE routing, and your extruder's tolerance for drag, especially with TPU. We have no verified printer-fit records for these dryers, so we don't list any as fitting a particular printer or material system.
  • Plug and power. These are US-plug variants. Check the exact listing if you are outside the US.

When don't you need a filament dryer?

Safety

A dryer applies heat for many hours at a time, so the rules below matter more than any spec.

  • Spool temperature limits come first. Don't set a dryer above what the filament, the spool, or the dryer is rated for. Cardboard and many plastic spools can warp below the filament's drying temperature. SUNLU (for the E2) and Creality (for the SpacePi X4) both tell you to consider spool heat resistance at high temperatures.
  • Follow the maker's attended-use guidance. Polymaker's PolyDryer manual says: "DO NOT leave the dryer unattended when switched to Continuous Mode." The product pages we used for the other dryers don't state attended-use rules, so read the manual that comes in the box and follow it.
  • Use the built-in protection; never bypass it. SUNLU lists triple protection on the S4, and Sovol says the SH02 heater cuts out above 130 °C, with a fan-failure alarm shown in its product images. None of these makes a dryer fire-proof. Keep vents clear, keep the unit on a stable, heat-tolerant surface, and keep it away from water and anything flammable.
  • No improvised heaters. Don't build a dryer from a heater, lamp, or hair dryer in a box, and don't make a kitchen food oven your drying method.

How this page was checked

This is a research-based shortlist. We have not used these dryers for this page, so there are no test results, drying-time measurements, or "we found" claims here. Every temperature, capacity, spool size, and safety statement above comes from the manufacturer documents listed in the sources section and in each product's record, retrieved on 2026-10-06; the EIBOS Cyclopes user manual was checked on 2026-10-14. Makers revise products and pages, and several of these makers' own pages disagree with each other on some figures. Check the current manual for your exact unit before relying on a number.
