These parts are easy to mistake for a fit. Their makers name a related model but not the Prusa Research XL, so we don’t list them above.

Filament notes for the Prusa Research XL

Start with Best Filament for the Prusa XL and XL+ (2026), which covers what the printercan and can’t print according to the maker.

The Prusa Research XL uses 1.75 mm filament. Every spool in our filament shortlists is 1.75 mm, but check the exact listing before you buy. The stock extruder is direct drive, which generally handles flexible filament more easily than a Bowden setup. Automatic material systems are a separate constraint.

For a material direction matched to your printer, use the filament finder with the XL preselected.

Care gear for any printer

Dryers, storage, and tools don't depend on your printer model. These shortlists cover them.
